Las Palmas fitting out

It's been a whirl of socialising, fitting new gear, attending seminars and briefings, boat inspections and just generally getting ready for the crossing.   The main highlights so far have been the first 'mega' shopping trip to El Corte Ingles in Las Palmas, where we bought 17 boxes of food, beer and wine, the fitting of our new Hydrovane wind steering kit, sorting our the software on the on-board PC, and some pretty heavy socialising!

There has been a cocktail party or a happy hour almost every evening, the last one being hosted by the Ministry for Tourism in Las Palmas - where we saw some 'typically Canarian dancers'.    They looked more like they'd come from Rio than the Canaries though, and the costumes were truly extravagant - with the 'blokes' wearing the same as the women (see photo)!

We're in the Vela Latina basin with all the other catamarans - 15 so far, and 3 more to come.   190 yachts have arrived so far, and I think that there are about 30 more to come, so it should be pretty crowded!

We're still waiting for some decent sunshine however, and we've had some really heavy downpours in  the last few days.  The temperature is always about 23 degrees though, and the sun does shine for some of the time, so its really very nice

Photos are of some of the dancers from last night (spot the difference!), and of 'cat city' in the the Vela Latina yacht harbour.
