At 0900 local time (1300 gmt)  distance run in last 24 hours 187 miles
And for you ARC mates reading this we only had one days run that beat this ie 190 days - So I reckon not bad for the old Git on his own!!!!
Spent daylight belting east as fast as possible across the waves which the Autohelm didnt like .. So I had to helm most of the time ... At dusk headed off a bit more northerly ... chasing the south side of a developing gale .... which were lucky enough just to catch ... During the night winds of 20 to 25 knots blowing us along on a beam reach occasionally up to 30 . So two reefs in main and most of the Genny out we flew off ... but a tad rolly over the beam on waves .. but you cant have everything!! And I got what I wanted .. the passage speed.
So now I have decided to call this phase of the trip "the Chicken Run" too much left hand and too much wind (which really means big waves that force you to slow down) too much right hand and into the high pressure and no wind or even worse easterly winds! .. The snag is all these systems keep moving about so its always - chase the mouse syndrome!
Oh yes and just to cheer you lot in the UK up ... this particular system is giving a boot  up the  ... to a string of lows across the Atlantic .... So making one big one stretching from here to ... you guessed it ..jolly old England  .. enjoy the wind and rain I am sending over to you .. tee hee
