Still here

We are still here but we believe, at last, there is positive news on the sail.  It arrived in Praia on Santiago ten days ago and finally someone has been persuaded to put it on the plane for the 120 mile flight up here to Sao Vicente.  It’s at the airport and the “papers” have been collected.  Apparently this is an important step – if you can get your hands on the paperwork good news cannot be far behind.  Naturally, as the documentation was collected at 4 o’clock on a Friday nothing can be done for a bit.  There has to be a “process” and every processing official is off duty until Monday morning.  Still, we might get it then, ......but will it fit?......have they remembered to send the battens?  Sigh........

Most of our new-found Cape Verde friends have been and gone again already – the boatyard boss is in Orlando, Florida for five weeks learning to fly - but we haven’t really much to complain about.  A few new faces have appeared and there is usually something going on to keep us amused.  However, we are really, really hoping to see a sail on Monday or Tuesday.  Even if we do, and it fits, and it has battens, we might not leave immediately - it was blowing a hooley again yesterday.  We are determined to be patient, sensible and wait for a window.
