All’s well on board.

 

It’s tea time Thursday.  Ever since the sharp shower reported in the last posting we have been experiencing the conditions we were warned about – winds between 20 and 30 knots, more often towards the top of that range, cloudy skies and rougher seas.  It was quite boisterous yesterday but a little easier today.  It’s fine in the cockpit or on the after deck, (Jim has continued fishing – no luck yet); warm, usually dry and free from bright sunlight.  Down below it is not so comfortable.  Reading and watching videos is easy enough but cooking is difficult and lying abed one is liable to be tossed and turned involuntarily.  Not that anyone’s short on sleep; with three people on board that’s no problem.

 

Our only disappointment is the ocean current.  We were led to believe by the published authorities that there would be a favourable current of about one knot under us; instead there is a contrary current of the same rate.  Two knots over 10 to 14 days makes a big difference to passage times.  Still, we are bowling along at a good speed through the water which is beneficial to morale.

 

We have sailed 570 miles and have 1420 to go.

 

Mustn’t grumble.
