All’s well on board.

It is tea-time Tuesday and we have a good breeze now, about 20 knots, and are bowling along nicely.  The dreaded Indian Ocean swell is no higher than to be expected with this wind strength.  Unfortunately we have a current against us of about one knot and that results in rather disappointing progress.  The contrary current is unexpected; we must have strayed into a sliver of the Equatorial Counter Current.  We are 320 miles out of Cocos with 1665 to go.

There is heavy overcast with showers visible in several directions but all have missed us, so far.  That is a good thing because we don’t want to disturb Jim’s fishing on the after deck.  He nearly had one just now – but it got away.

Woops!  Here comes the rain.  Jim is snookered.  And with a following wind we have very little protection in the cockpit from a heavy shower.  Suddenly, the mate is soaked.  Luckily for her it is the change of the watch.
