The bridge to Keppel Bay Marina

7th boat from the left - the new bridge to the marina complex on Keppel Island

We have been here at Keppel Bay marina three weeks now and have had our ups and downs.  We were all geared up for the gearbox to be repaired on Friday 6th; the box had been removed and checked in the engineers' workshop, a load of spare parts had been delivered to Volvo Singapore and we had a promise that, should our absorber be included as expected, the gearbox would be re-fitted that afternoon.  For some reason the vital part was not included and, furthermore, Volvo now said that it would not be available until 22nd November.  Gloom!  Over the weekend I telephoned our friend Bill in Kingsbridge.  (On how many occasions has Bill's name been mentioned with approbation in this blog?)  First thing Monday morning he located the part at Volvo UK in Watford and it was delivered to our engineers in Singapore mid-day Thursday.  They say they will get everything ship-shape again today, Monday 16th.

The absorber. What we have been waiting for.

And this is it!

In the meantime we have been keeping ourselves amused, catching up with a few jobs and, notably, by spending an hour or so at the local golf club on their driving range.

Orchids at the botanical gardens

An outing to the botanical gardens included a visit to the orchid centre.

We are now hoping to head north up through the Malacca Strait towards Langkawi early in the week, perhaps tomorrow.
