Well spotted Simon on our incorrect position (entered by skipper!) on yesterday’s post – while we were straying off course with our wind and sail issues, we were not straying that far South!

We had a good night with steady northerly winds yesterday. Our genoa furling line repair is still holding, although we’re being very delicate with her and trying to keep any load off that section. This means that reefing is a bit more of a faff and so Ollie ended up cooking an excellent sweet potato mash with bolognese for dinner while very heeled over. It also meant that Louise called the first “All hands on deck” to reef at 3am, although should have shouted earlier because she woke up quite stiff from helming this morning.

The sun is shining and the dolphins are out today, although the wind died a few hours ago and we’ve got the engine on now. We’re keen to keep moving as fast as possible towards Horta because the forecast is showing strong winds over the weekend, which we want to avoid as much as possible.

Time for tea and Christmas cake now – thanks Ann!
