On our way to Madeira now, genoa poled out and no mainsail giving us a nice 6 knots while the crew sort the music selection.
We didn’t get ashore last night as it was blowing a hooley at the anchorage….and I couldn’t find the electric pump for the dinghy! We have possibly irritated the harbour/marine police there as I think you were meant to go ashore and check in to the Madeira zone, so will see what happens when we do check in later this afternoon. We are booked in to the Quinta do Lorde marina at the eastern end of the island ( Funchal was full) for a few days and will get a car and go exploring.
The IT help desk of Bilal and Lucie (a software developer) have done some wizardry on my laptop so hopefully it won’t gobble so much satellite time when sending and receiving e mails. I used 40 mins worth at significant cost on the trip from Cascais with only a handful of messages.
