At the risk of sounding trite, every day is a learning day even when they are sunny days in the Canaries.
Yesterday, I took the sextant along the coast path a few hundred metres from the marina and got some star (mostly planets to be pedantic) sights which were accurate within 2-3 miles. More practice to be done and it will be easier when the horizon is 360 degrees!
Today I had a driving lesson for a few hours! There is an RYA sailing school here and I had booked some “marina skills “ training, mainly prompted by a bit of heavy parking in Madeira. I had wanted to do this training for years really , especially in RAVEN rather than in some other boat, so great to have the opportunity and no prangs today !
