We had a rather weird but very entertaining evening at Soufriere, with a tasty “Indian fusion “ meal at a very random hotel way up high in the hills, where cold damp winds were blowing in the open sides. By about 9 it was apparent that the evening was already fizzling as people were leaving as soon as they had eaten despite the best efforts of steel band and singers. We cut our losses and got a taxi back down the steep hill into town , crawling in a screeching first gear with apparently no brakes. Monsoon rain showers continued, we queued for ages for a beer just getting one as the curfew (in theory due at 10 pm) was announced at 11.15……fortunately the rain stopped sufficiently long for us to do a long dinghy ride back to Raven just in time for midnight, so that has to be a good omen for 2022!
