We were picked up from RAVEN early, well fairly early at 0730 by our boatman Ifan who promptly became our barefooted guide up Petit Piton. As it’s name implies, this is the smaller of the two Pitons in terms of altitude, but is the steeper and more impenetrable of the two. Several sections had “fixed “ ropes , which would not have passed too many health and safety inspections but seemed to do the job, and especially helpful on the way down.
When back down, we continued on the tourist trail to the volcanic mud spring and a waterfall , followed by beer and pizza…..after which we were fit only to collapse!
