It really looks as though we will be making land
fall to Fatu Hiva on Saturday. We have had a 2 knot current in our face
for most of the day which kind of didn't help our progress. However, what
is another night when you have just done 18!!!
I think Tim was racing with himself of
course!!!! Thankfully this is not the Arc so not necessary, Christian you
would have enjoyed this trip! We have even learnt to catnap on our night
watch, or watch films too.
The days pass relatively quickly with a routine to
help. School work takes up most of the morning, and the children are doing
so well. In the whole trip, only no school for 3 days, so I guess some
well earned rest for them soon too.
Meals are now mainly from the store cupboard as
most of the fresh stuff didn't do too well from the Galapagos, and ended up
overboard. the best has been butternut squash that has kept perfect from
panama!!! I still have 3, lucky family. Unfortunately for the
family, they are now having to endure my bread making skills, which have not
been too great. I even made ready packet mix rolls, but they ended up like
biscuits. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I have tried
every recipe I know from lots of different sources, and they all tell me it will
be perfect. Ummmm, only 5 more days, can we wait for wonderful French
bread, yes they do have it we are told.
Our re-fuel in Galapagos prior to the
Pacific. A water taxi brings a guy with gerry and hand pump. Don't
you love the technology!!!
