Now returned from our week in Sydney, where
we picked Megan up from the airport, we are sailing down back toward Sydney
Harbour, where the boat will remain until after New Year.
Driving 1000km from Brisbane to Sydney is a jolly
long way and this is a MUCH bigger country than you think. We certainly
gave our new motor a good run in. We packed the back row of 2 seats with
loads of stuff from the depths of the boat, trying to take off some weight and
clutter. It is amazing how one manages to cram anything and everything
into any available space - and quickly. The kids were excellent on the
drive down. We left about 0530 and therefore they managed to sleep some of
the way. 12 hours later and sick of the sight of McDonalds we arrived at
Tims sister. While in Sydney, we actually only went into the city for one
day, which was cold and rainy. However, we did manage to see the relevant
landmarks, and check out the harbour for our New Year extravaganza.
So, now back on the boat, after the return journey,
which did seem longer, we are trying to get down to Sydney for Christmas.
Unfortunately, or typically, the weather is not playing ball. High winds
are due to set in, and so we may have to sit them out and wait. But that
is meant to be in a couple of days. So far we have visited Moreton island,
where we managed some fun for a morning, before the rain set it!!!
We will keep you posted, and continue to try to
give you some news, although it isn't as exciting as it used to be.
