Hi All
Well we in Falmouth, not sure what our last entry was, but we sailed from
Plymouth with building southerlies that caused all sorts of fun. We had the
westerly swell about 2 m with southerly wind waves. 6 hour washing machine
comes to mind. The good part was that it smashed Vicki's mirror and dumped a
few un needed items on the floor....this means they have now found the bin
and the boat rises a fraction of a mm.
We in Falmouth for this week, hopefully finding the weather window for the
Biscay on Sunday. So far its looking good, but that's the long range
forecast.
So Falmouth.... well its quite close to as far west as you can go. They have
funny accents but the Cornish pies are good. We are docked at the Falmouth
government dock. We were supposed to get free Premier Marina moorage for the
week we here, but alas they don't like honouring their marketing promises.
So if you have a boat and looking for moorage, don't get influenced by
Premier marinas promise!! I even spoke to their ops manager to no avail!!
We busy getting all the little chores done on the boat so we ready for our
first multi day passage. I fitted a new man over board system that is like a
watch that you put on and if the person is either in the water or more than
10 m from the boat a screeching alarm goes off. The main reason for fitting
this was to ensure the kids at anchor are safe or at least if they not we
know about it.
I fixed the radar which had malfunctioned, the same with the wind instrument
that has been playing up recently. We need to go up the mast inspect all the
rig, clean the bilges and check the engines for any issues. Vic cleaned the
oven so as to replace the mirror that we lost.
Oh yes I was telling you about Falmouth....it's as far west as you can get,
well sort of on the south coast.
Saturday Andrew and Lotti arrive and Sunday we off. If we can average 7 kts
I have worked out that we will arrive at 6 PM in La Coruna on my 21st
birthday (15th June, yes send me lots of love). If this happens as
choreographed, we should have a huge party to celebrate both the Biscay
crossing and my 21 st. It will entail eating at a Spanish restaurant
drinking copious amounts of wine and partying for at least for 2 hours
before we become comatose.
We will let everyone know if Sunday is on and will update blog during the
passage.
Please keep the emails coming to either master.karinya or Karinya at mail.
(reason for cryptic email is no spam policy) We love to hear from all our
friends and family as even what you consider as mundane is a huge event in
our rather slow life.
All out love TVCJ
