Hi all

Yesterday was a work day in the marina getting the boat clean and doing
laundry. The young lady who we were considering for the Transat left for
home.We have decided that although at first things were fine, she would not
be compatible with the family or boat for an extended period, i.e. crossing
the Atlantic. So we will either find a new person (probably a little
older/mature) or just cross with the 4 of us.

We left the marina last night and headed up to Lisbon, it was quite an
experience sailing up the estuary where so many of the greatest explorers in
history sailed from. We sailed past the Torre de Belem (1515) which once
stood in the middle of the estuary, but after the great earthquake which
changed the course of the river now lies on the bank.(pics will follow)
There is also a monument Padroa do Descbrimentos that was built to
commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator, this
has figures like Vasco da Gama, Magellan, etc.
The we sailed under the Ponte 25 de April the 2nd longest suspension bridge
in Europe and on the bank is the gigantic figure of Christ which was erected
to thank god the Portuguese were to chicken to fight in world war 2 and were
spared from any real incidents!
So we now in a calm river anchorage, catching our breath, doing school work
etc. Vic and I can't wait to explore Lisbon over the next week as it seems
fascinating.

We should be able to down load some great photos soon.
