I have the pleasure of passing the equator at the end of my watch, so I am
thinking of all the changes that are going to happen. Firstly, does the
water in the sink on a boat go down the wrong way, will the fish swim
backwards, are we going to have beautiful uninterrupted sailing with perfect
winds, less humidity, is Neptune really going to appear from below and
congratulate us??
Well, all of the above may happen if we have too many drinks, but that wont
happen. Tim was going to appear from the depths dressed as Neptune, to
surprise the kids, but this may horrify them and give them nightmares for
weeks in the dark ( it will be am when we cross, we hope), so that is not an
option. Tim was then going to swim across the equator, but that shall not
be the case either, as we have had the occasional shark next to the boat.
We shant be sacrifing the youngest, nor keel hauling the eldest, nor shall
we be thanking Neptune as he tends to give us nothing be sh1t. BUT we shall
be waking the kids and having a midnight feast, well its not everyday we
cross the equator. The kids will think we have gone mad, but will thank us
in 10 years. We may dangle our toes in the water while we stop the boat, if
the winds allow. currently we have no wind and glassy seas,
