With a fair following wind we have picked up a little speed and are making
steady progress.
The sun is warm and the sea state fairly calm so life on board is very
pleasant. As Helen joined in the night watches last night we even got plenty of
sleep! As the sky was clear the moonlight was bright enough to see by, until it
set at 2.30am leaving just the stars to illuminate the night.
To provide entertainment we have been playing games (battleships, ipad
games and animal mineral or vegetable), watching episodes of House and listening
to podcasts of Radio 4 comedies. Yesterday’s highlight was a new game called
“How many times can you wrap the gennaker round the forestay whilst still making
progress?” We learnt a new skill too, namely “How to remove a gennaker wrapped
round the forestay by motoring round in endless circles” Whilst occupying us for
a good hour or so it seriously impeded progress and will hopefully be avoided in
future.
