We are still making good progress. The shift system is working well, and we are getting used to sleeping in 3 hour stints.

After being “goosewinged” for 3 nights and 2 days, with the genoa poled out on the opposite side to the mainsail, when the wind eased we decided it was time for some deck activity, and hoisted the gennaker (our large coloured sail). We were soon sailing along at about 9 knots but the wind increased again, and it had to come in.

The communications are working well – emails and blogs by fleet broadband satellite connection, and chatting with other boats on the long range SSB radio.

We are now into the tropics, and temperatures have begun to increase, though it is still a little chilly in the early hours of the morning.

Mandy has encouraged us to exercise on the aft deck – press-ups, skipping, and standing on one leg – though we have had to put a stop on that one on safety grounds.

We have nearly eaten up the Dorado we caught, so the fishing lines are out again. Derek hopes for a large Tuna!
