Still riding the Gulf Stream we were able to cover 186 miles (Day 7 log) and look forward to making landfall in Charleston tomorrow morning, 118 miles to go!
At times the sea was quite lumpy while sailing close to the wind as we had to sail 25 to 30 degrees to starboard to compensate for the strong current pushing us to the West but we sailed at a maximum speed of 10.5 knots with an average of 7.8 knots, a very rewarding feeling. We are glad we decided to take this route and are also happy to have left the heat of the tropics behind us. It is still very hot but a much dryer atmosphere with slightly cooler and more comfortable nights.
