La Palma is the greenest of the Canary Islands with with the worlds largest crater La Caldera Taburiente, 27 km in circumference and 763m deep.
So we hired a car and went with our marina neighbour Alan from 'Snow White' to the top above the cloud level. The first time we felt the cold and had to wear jackets.

Excellent long distance provisions
On our trip to the mountains we picked up plenty of sweet chestnuts, they are delicious
Local mangos are a true delight and just 1 euro 60 a kilo
We made good use of the car to stock up at Hyper Dino and were able to get the dive cylinder recharged by Miguel, a local police officer.
Although we intended to leave earlier, we ended up staying 5 days going through a list of jobs to do before heading to the Cape Verde. The new Marina is the best set up of the entire trip so far. Lovely showers, good laundry, excellent wifi connection and a beautiful town to visit and stock up.
The only difficulty in all of the islands here, is to refill our gaz bottles. We even went up to the local plant with our box of international fittings with no success. It was cheaper to acquire a one ring electric cooker perfect in the marina, helping us to save on our last bottle of gas, which should be able to be refilled in the Cape Verdes. Today, we are still working on Kahia, we found a problem with the Whitlock steering and ordered some spares to be send out from England to Mindelo. So we hope to get away in the next hours, about 800 NM to go.
