HORTA, capital of Failal

We have been here for over a week and just taken time to update our Diary. Have a look at previous dates to see more photos etc.

On our first day we went to Cafe Sport:

 09^th July 2009

Peter’s Bar, the Cafe Sport is the “must” watering hole of worldwide sailors reaching the Azores. Next to Catherine is Jose, the son of Jose/Peter, keeping his father’s tradition of warmth, welcome and traveller’s support going. Next to him is Patrick. Below we are with Patrick and Marc.

We met both briefly in Ponta Delgada and bumped into them at Peter’s. Patrick invited us to a meal and till the early hours of the morning we talked. They left from the same port in France, Benodet to the Azores just a few days after us in a little 6.5 meter Pogo sailing boat with no engine! They are now, as I write, somewhere south of the Azores heading to Martinique, French Carrabean on their way home to Tahiti!!! Amazing guys! The next day: 10^th July

 Phillippe, another French Sailor had his anchor snagged and Paul dived down to free it. Grateful, he gave Paul a superb bottle of Pomerol.
