Gliding quietly in calm seas, Kahia gracefully managed to cover 113 m Northwards under sail and in very light airs.
Another peaceful night for the crew, apart from three ships passing fairly close by. Thanks to our AIS transceiver, they can see us long before we spot them, which vastly improves collision avoidance. One Cargo ship from Japan bound for Panama confirmed over the VHF radio, that he had altered course to cross our stern 1 mile behind us. We had a lovely chat about our travels and we were told they were bound for New Orleans to pick up a cargo of grain for Japan.
The wind has freshened just a touch from the South East and after studying closely the latest weather grib file, we decided to chance crossing the top edge of what is left of the Central High Pressure taking now a North Easterly course towards the Juan de Fuca Strait, in the hope we will not be becalmed.
So far so good.
