The “Pearl  Islands” have their name from the Spanish who came here for the abundance  of large pearls. They wiped out the inhabitants and brought African slaves to dive for the pearls and add to the royal treasures.

The first night we anchored off a long white beach with just one other yacht. The next day we anchored off the village and met very friendly people, mainly descendents of the slaves.

Alexandro came to our anchorage and sold us all these fruits for $5 . This will last a while and we love Papaya and mangos!!!

On our walk through the village, we were told about a new school building being build, so we went to see it. What an uplifting project, I’d love to work in a classroom like this

The tables are hexagonal and can be used in different ways; the chairs are still to be made. We took loads of photos and felt very inspired.
