It’s a sailor’s fun fair! Sailing in the Gulf Stream, we reached a peak speed of 11.6 knots over the ground and an average of 9.5 knots.
In the late morning the SW wind turned to NW right on the nose, but with the current we still sailed at 7 to 8 knots. By noon the wind was too light to sail and we are now motor sailing at a speed of 7.5 knots and a gentle bounce through the wind over current effect.
We are waiting for the wind to veer to the East to be able to hold our course to Charleston, South Carolina only 296 miles away.
Day 6 log: 190 miles, making it a total of 861 miles over 6 days.
We were able to make contact with our friends on Santana and Orca, just rounding Cuba and heading North to Bermuda. It’s lovely to catch up on SSB and keep in touch as we are all bound to meet up in the Azores in June.
