Fantastic Caribbean sailing!
Where we expected to be in little to no wind, we have been romping along between 6 and 7 knots. We had another bird visitor, a beautiful little fly catcher, who found a very sensible perch on our hydrovane steering line, tucked under the spray hood. He was there all night until in the early morning, when, Paul adjusted the line rather vigorously, which flicked him off, landing on Paul’s head and ending up on deck, clinging to the lifeline. However he was fine and went on his way a few hours later to who knows where.
Some more heavy rain cleaned the decks and sails and brought us another load of flying fish, which we decided not to eat this time.
We managed to cover 142 nm on our 24 hour log and are still going strong, while we heard from our friends on Quicksilver who took the Western route to Gran Cayman having no wind at all, just 180 miles to the East of us. We also managed to talk to Santana enjoying their time in Cuba and look forward to catching up again tomorrow evening on SSB.
