Hi everyone, sorry for the delay of this update, caused by strong gale force winds, produced by the low pressure system over the Azores. For the last six hours we have been running before up to Force 8 winds on the leading top edge of the Low as it tracked further south than we expected. The worst now appears to be over. Just finished coffee, crumble and custard (left over of Paul’s Birthday treat) and altered course to the Eastern end of St. Miguel (66 nm) to then sail along its southern coast up to Ponta Delgada.

What a contrast to yesterday, when we motored over calm seas, the main novelty being receiving phone calls on the satellite phone, rushing around, pressing buttons and finding the ear piece to make the conversation possible.

Mama’s call from Germany was the first call that came through, although Richard was the first one to try to get through in the Morning. It was a very special treat to talk to family and receive news from home.
