Last night Kahia got thoroughly washed by our first torrential rain. Lots of sail adjustments in strong wind shifts under dark, heavy clouds kept us busy. As the cockpit was wet Paul decided stay below to watch "From Paris with Love" with John Travolta, enjoying it so much that he let me sleep for 6 hours. His laughter did wake me up though a couple of times.
The night before on my watch, I had a different kind of treat for Paul. A flying fish managed to fly through the galley hatch, flapping frantically in front of the cooker and I had to wake Paul up to administer the last rights... They are lovely looking fish but extremely smelly, so inside the boat not a good surprise... How glad I was that I sat in the cockpit and was not making a night cup, while that happened. Poor fish try to escape on our approach but at night are not able to see the boat, so bang against the hull or land on deck, but flying through the hatch!!! Lucky it did not make it into the saloon bunk, where Paul was sleeping...
