Day 4

Kahia
Paul and Catherine Davis

Our position at 13.45 UTC with 239 NM to Ilha de Sal.
A steady force 5 made it a very pleasant night passage. Catherine saw an electric green explosion in the northern sky, trailing north west just before 03.00 UTC. It made her heart race as it lasted longer than the odd shooting star and was larger in size and extremely bright.
On Paul's night watch, while adjusting the hydrovane he noticed in the wake of the natural phosphorescent trail another phenomena of bright flashes of light coming from astern.
As we are writing recalling the events of the night the wind is a steady force 6 with gusts of force 7 and huge waves crushing once and a while over the coach roof.
This morning Paul spotted another yacht in the distance, which is the first boat we have seen since the Canaries four days ago...
On the AIS we also noticed another yacht some 26 NM behind us, too far to see.
At breakfast we listened to Sara Tavares (Thank you Sabine for the album: "Balance"), a Cape Verdean singer to get us in the mood. We really look forward to seeing the islands soon.
