Another hire car to take Claude, Benj and Max back to the airport in Miami gave us a chance to look at the Whaling Wall in Key Largo.  These ‘walls’ are the life work of an artist called Robert Wyland. It took him 28 years to complete one of the largest art-in-public projects in history. Intended to raise awareness of the plight of our oceans he painted 100 apparently life- size murals in 79 cities in 17 countries on all 5 continents.

This one is on a dive centre building in the middle of Key Largo although the manatees in particular seem larger than life!

We then found a restaurant to have brunch, before heading off to the airport.

After they had left, Nick and I decided to check out the Whaling Wall in Miami. Right in the centre of the skyscrapers, it was much more life-size although looked like it needed a touch up!

We left the city behind and headed back to ‘The Fabulous Florida Keys’ as the local radio station reminded us.
