Another cycle to the village, this time past the emergency services that had all the garage doors open. They revealed 5 fire trucks that seemed to span the entire history of the fire department here.

I also checked out one of the 3 cemeteries here, where islanders are still buried in family groups.

Supper with Bici again, this time learning about here house. She bought the land her house is on in the 1950s but decided  to sell half the land, including the farmhouse in which they lived andbuild a new, winterised house on the half she kept. It is a post and beam house (timber frame in the UK) and she and her husband Frank argued with the architects to get a very large span in the main room/hall. As well as being beautiful, they have created something spacious and cosy at the same time.  It is also full of possessions that all have a history which Bici explains with enthralling stories of a fascinating life.

Supper was another Maine lobster, including a lesson in how to put them in a catatonic state by standing them on their heads and stroking their tails. Some sy it makes it less stressful when entering the pan…..
