We can’t get further south on the ICW so had to sneak out through the mangroves and back into the ocean. The channel is marked by the red triangles on the left and the green squares on the right, with sand bars and depths of less than 1m either side (we need 1.2m).

The weather has changed completely. Today it feels like we are back in the tropics, although technically not quite south enough yet. The sea is a beautiful colour and the temperature is 28C. Perfect for a swim except for the hundreds of Portugese Man-of-War that gently sailed passed!

We are now anchored on the ocean side of Key Largo next to our friends Paul and Nancy – and Mr Grey – and spent the evening catching up. The plan is to stay here for the next couple of weeks and learn to dive.
