Nick went cycling again, this time to the posh end of town with the posh houses and the quaint shops. He also found the ‘Bike Coral’!

Next he cycled over the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge, the third largest span of a cable-stayed bridge in the western hemisphere. It was opened in 2005, replacing two bridges that failed to cope with the increasing traffic. From its centre there is a fabulous view of the USS Yorktown – the aircraft carrier Chuck gave us a fascinating tour of last time we were here.

On the way back, he also found Camden Depot, one of the finest examples of pre-Civil War railroad buildings in the US. It is unusual because of its Gothic style, usually only found in churches and educational buildings of the mid 1800s.
