4 Sept – Collecting Oscar

Nick and Max took the bikes to Shelter Island, a 5 minute ferry ride from Greenport.  The houses there are large and impressive and the beaches aren’t too bad either.

A quick cycle around Greenport afterwards and they found the local beer truck. The logo is an amusing play on the aerial view of Long  Island.

Max has just bought a new camera and so has been photographing the boat – very pretty.

In the evening, David returned from a business trip to the mainland and we had a brief chat with him - Max has not seen him since their voyage across the Atlantic. We couldn’t stay long though as Max and I had to drive to La Guardia Airport in New York to collect Oscar, who he shared a house with in Cambridge. Oscar is now doing a post-doc in California, looking at analysis of plankton shells to measure ancient climate conditions!
