We have spent the last few days getting the boat ready before leaving. Stopped in to see Bill Bartovic in the evening to thank him for letting us use his mooring in Pulpit Harbour during our stay. They have been living year round on the island for the past 9 years, running a small holding with a small flock of sheep. Their son Foster (who drove the boat that took us to Vinalhaven) has married an islander so they are definitely integrated now! He also showed us a beautiful stage coach route map from Oxford to Cambridge – the X5. He has promised to give it to us next time we visit!

Then on to Sabine Farm for drinks with Bici, Bouzha, Bill and her mother Kit (Normans sister). They had  oysters – we had cheese!

Today we had lunch at ‘Coopers Landing’ including delicious blueberry ice-cream, and Nick checked out the  yacht club.

Back to Bicis for tea whilst Nick fixed her chair and kitchen work surfaces. She also showed us a beautiful quilt that one of Frank’s daughters made them for a wedding present. It is of the house and land, but also hides various significant items in the quilting – like the viol that Bici used to play before arthritis made it too difficult and she took up the piano – at 83.

We said our goodbyes and hopefully will meet up in Cuba for Christmas.
