Left yesterday morning and spent a peaceful day sailing but the evening got much more interesting. Chuck saw a distress flare and Gretchen heard ‘…..vessel taking on water’ on the VHF radio. We called the coastguard and they sent a helicopter to search the area having first flown over us to check the location. After about three hours they informed us that they had found nothing and we could ‘stand down’. The wind died and we had to motor for much of the night.

This is what I do much of the time on passage – sorting photos and writing entries in the boats journal and for the website / weblog!
