Yesterday Max spent the day sorting out many computers in preparation for me learning to analyse some of his fish videos.

Today, we went to the Naval Academy again, this time with Max and Karen. Notable this time was Dahlgren Hall where we went to the Graduation Ball earlier this year. This time the Fencing Club was out in force – particularly interesting for Max as he fenced at school.

We revisited the extraordinary crypt for John Paul Jones, attributed with founding the US Navy.  Also Bancroft Hall, where all 4000 students live and only alumni can pass through the central door. New facts learned were about the organ in the chapel. Originally built in 1908 it has had many enhancements and renovations and is now the largest drawknob organ console in the world. For those that know, it now has: 268 ranks plus percussion and traps; 522 drawknobs; 796 total controls; 15,688 equivalent pipes; 5 manuals.  For those that don’t know – it sounds like the largest in the world!!

In the evening we went for hamburgers and ice-cream, in true American style.
