Back to Molasses Reef today as it was our favourite spot. The weather was better this time, not as windy so the water looked fantastic.

This is where the Yellow Chub handaround the back of the boat, presumably waiting to be fed.

Like all the protected areas, the buoys provided are used byboats like us, local dive boats and here, by the glass bottomed catamaran that is based in Pennekamp. We were able to hear the commentary from their afternoon trip and discovered that Goliath Grouper are found here.

We set off in the direction the boat had been in managed to find two huge fish. They are about 6ft long and weigh 200kgs each! Sadly, Goliath Grouper are yet another critically endangered species due to over fishing. Not only are they delicious, but their slow growth, curiosity  and tendency to spawn in large aggregations make them easy to catch. Protected in the US and Caribbean since the early 90s, they are recovering albeit slowly. Max managed to free dive and take this fantastic photo.
