Motor sailed all day to get across the Caicos Bank during daylight. A 30 mile area over 3-4m deep reef where you have to watch for shallow parts. Sailed over the drop-off where the water changes from a deep blue (2500m) to brilliant turquoise (3-4m) in about 30 secs. The T+C used to be the largest Marine Protected area in the world but now the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean are ( also a British Protectorate). Only sailboats and researchers are allowed in now so we should be good on both scores!
The sea is such a brilliant colour turqoise here, it reflects off the white underside of the birds (Sooty Terns) and makes them appear to glow a fluorescent green/blue - and the underside of the white clouds.
