On the way to Portland we returned to Damariscove to see what we missed in the fog on the way up. The Eider duck colony was rather disappointing as mostly dull brown females, but the cove we failed to anchor in was a huge surprise – much bigger than I expected, and full of boats. Note the rocks behind Nick that spooked us last time when they appeared about 20 feet away.

Portland turned out to be tucked in at the end of another large harbour. Complete with forts!
