> Despite the weather improving, we stayed in Korfos for another day in the hope that there would be some wind to sail to Aegina. Typical, after having too much wind, now we didn’t have enough. It was a lovely day with bright sunshine although still chilly in the breeze. Despite the chill I decided that it was time for the first swim of the year. The water temp was 21.4’c so there really was no excuse. The sola shower had warmed up in the sun so getting out and showering was no problem. Even Chris went in.

> The next day was perfect sailing weather, except for the rain, with a N/NE breeze, so we set off at 0852 in full foulies and managed a lovely broad reach all the way to the island of Aegina where we anchored in the bay just outside of the town breakwater. This island was open. It is the first and last point of call for all the charter yachts at the beginning and at the end of their charter, so it is very busy. Also, may Athenians pop over to Aegina for a day trip or weekend visit to get out of the smog of Athens. It is well served by ferries that come and go at an alarming rate all day long, so there is a bit of a chop in the anchorage but more uncomfortable than dangerous. The water was so clear we could see the anchor hit bottom in a patch of sand. The reason for visiting Aegina was that it is on the way to mainland Athens where we are going to spend a few days. I have not been to Athens, Chris last visited about 40 years ago, I have wanted to visit the

> ever since we started sailing in Greece so while we were in the area it seemed like a good idea to visit while the season is still a little quieter.

> We needed some food supplies and there was some ruins of a temple dedicated to Apollo to visit to get our antiquity fix.
