Friday 16th in Lagos
We left our marina berth in Lagos at lunchtime today after another FBT breakfast.
It has been a jolly  place to stay but I think we are all ready to move on.

Following on from our 8 mile boardwalk walk on Tuesday, we set off on Weds for the 9 mile round trip to a local headland mentioned in the guide books, Ponta de Piedade. As ever we took a picnic, a blanket and a sense of adventure……. no need for the latter; scores of coaches passed along our way and deposited their passengers right where we were expecting peace and quiet!

We managed to find the path less trodden and enjoyed our rest and picnic with spectacular views over the cliffs, seeing rock arches and caves in the dramatic limestone coastline. The downhill walk back to base was much easier. A meal out beckoned as no one had enthusiasm for cooking. Simon and Catherine had the same again, Octopus and fish of the day respectively, Nigel opted for Ribs and I had a yummy beef and prawn skewer.

Thursday we had a lazy-ish day doing our own thing and as I write we are motoring along the coast towards Cascais. Less than 100 miles to go!

Lagos was a pleasant stop, lots of trippers doing touristy things with kayaks, dolphin watching tours, visits to the caves etc. the old town was pretty; cobbled streets and lots of restaurants and small shops.

Best of all, the marina bill, when we came to pay at the end of our stay, was significantly cheaper than we had expected! Perhaps just as well because our next stop, Cascais, is the most expensive in Europe which is why we will be anchoring……. But maybe we can afford a night or two now!!
