From back in the UK, Catherine and Sally Whilst the Cassini crew have been sailing to Cape Verde and preparing for the next leg, Sally and I have been in the UK. We arrived home 3 weeks ago and I have been busy catching up with friends and family around the UK. There have been trips to Surbiton, (Clare and family) Ashampstead, (Sally), Stratford upon Avon, (Robin and family), Whalley (Alison "the stalker" who has been avidly following us!) and finally Thornton Cleveleys to see my Mum, sister and brother. A mega road trip! I've still to see Nigel's brother and my other sister but have those visits booked in over the next few days. It was rather strange arriving home in the middle of the night to be home alone. After being away for over 2 months I was very disorientated although sleeping in a large bed, soaking in a deep bubble bath and having SPACE was great. Part of me is envious of the crew - they have bonded well and it is a different trip to the one we experienced. I am not sure I could keep up with the beer consumption though! December, we will fly to Barbados and the next adventure starts. Island hopping around the Caribbean will be another new experience and a chance to re-visit the places we went to on our charter holidays. We aim to be in Antigua by about 21st December where we collect Sally and Simon's son and fiancé, then possibly head towards the BVI for Christmas. As we now know, a plan is a basis for change, dependent on the weather but we will not have any time constraints so we can be flexible. Cassini sets off across the ocean on Friday so we will be tracking their progress and hope they have a safe trip with favourable winds. Catherine My 3 weeks back in the UK have flown by. Visits from my parents and from Nick, Sybille and Jem together with Colin, Jules and Milo the spaniel have been super special and great fun. Catching up with friends, neighbours, Churchwarden duties, and especially tidying my garden has kept me busy. I have also managed to get out on The Downs and into the glorious Autumnal woodlands with the beating gang from the Yattenden shoot who were all following Cassini’s progress to The Canaries. Still to see a few more pals, my brother and sister in law to catch up with next week and then it will be time to prepare for the sunshine again. I have made a few more sunshades for the cockpit area in preparation! Fair winds Cassini. Safe journey.🙏⛵️ Sally |
