What a great day!

After a slightly frustrating start to our passage across the Atlantic, and onto Grenada, spirits are very high here today.

Starting with the weather improving, so that we are now cruising at a steady 6 knots. There is a long way to go, the weather ahead looks quite fickle, and maybe we won't reach Grenada by the time of a few planned flights, but its looking a lot more likely!

Then, what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon with a few Naval folk, than having an afternoon matinee performance of  the 'Cruel Sea'! All sat in the saloon, eating snacks and watching a classic WW2 film set on the Atlantic. However the afternoon was only about to get better!

We haven't yet finished the film as half way through it, our first fish was landed. A very impressive looking Wahoo. Measuring 4 feet and weighing at least 15lbs, the evening meal changed from being something out of a tin, to a feast now being prepared by Simon. And I don't think I've seen Durks looking so relaxed since the start of the trip, now that he's broken his duck! Plenty left for at least another night's dinner.

Cabo Verde now seem a long time ago, and hopefully will be a long way behind us soon. It was lovely to see, and explore the islands. Lots to do and nowhere near as bereft of supplies as we were lead to believe. With lovely beaches, turtle swims, and good hospitality, I have to say I really enjoyed my stay.

Then we set off for on our crossing with a plan to go south in the hope of getting bigger winds. Currently we are making good progress, with a small flotilla of boats around us. The crew are all fantastic. Durks can now truly call himself a fisherman. Sarah is always busy thinking of the next lesson for her motley lot in class 4P (be prepared for some interesting maths and geography lessons!). Snakehips is all over the catering, and there is no shortage of biscuits, while the best Grandad in the world (according to his mug anyway!) is learning some modern navigation methods using the sun, and is quite pleased to be able to place us within 3
mile of where we are! Meanwhile Simon quietly guides us all safely and efficiently across the ocean, and cooks a fantastic bit of fish.

So, as we cruise across the sea, in a gentle breeze, with the sun shinning and shooting stars at night, wearing shorts and tee shirt even for the night watch, I cant believe its mid November! The music is playing, the yarns roll and all this without a drop of alcohol.

See you all soon
