Laid up to replace the transducer
First thing Tuesday morning after the New Year bank holiday, Cassini was hoisted from the sea and laid up ashore. We had 24 hours to install a new transducer and get her afloat again.

A local hotel provided bedrooms (with air conditioning) and more delightfully, full pressure showers and limitless hot water. Sheer bliss and we each enjoyed 3 showers in barely 24 hours! Lunch and dinner out as we had no choice, and mostly a relaxing day on the beach watching the Pelican catching fish.

By Wednesday lunchtime the work was complete: Simon assisting Danny the contractor. It was time for  relaunch and keeping every finger and toe crossed. Cassini was lowered back into the sea…… and hoorah, we had a depth sounding….. and it was correct. Such a relief.

A swift stock up of supplies, retrieving some fridge items which we had been able to store on another boat in the harbour, pack away the dinghy and we finally to departed Falmouth Harbour.

A short motor sail later, we arrived in Willoughby Bay, a deserted anchorage in which we are the only boat currently. It was a tricky entrance as coral reefs lurked either side of the channel entry so all crew were deployed to scan the waters ahead or monitor our newly installed echo sounder. Safely anchored we enjoyed a cooling swim, supper and drinks.

Planning to be off for a longer sail tomorrow and head to Carlisle Bay to anchor.
