We set off on foot to the marina office, with coats on, to have our fingerprints scanned so that we could gain access to the marina and its facilities. Very high tech! Fortunately, the sun soon came out, and has been shining all day. We saw some amazing huge rolling waves breaking along the coastline here, with fisherman on the shore beach-casting, without much luck, as far as we could see. Also watched during our walk, a host of fishermen repairing their nets - fascinating. We discovered a local store to exchange our used Campinggaz gas bottle, then headed for a much needed coffee and chocolate croissant. Next stop, the municipal [open] market; fish on the ground floor, fruit veg and meat on the upper floor. Delicious fruit purchased, a few vegetables, and some fresh sardines for lunch. This afternoon, the hairdresser has been busy - Simon, Nigel and Sally all had a trim. Another trip ashore this afternoon, to exchange the used gas bottle (having found the place earlier), purchase beer [again], and pay our berthing fee as we have an early start tomorrow. Plus, as we are in Portugal, (obvs) a bottle of port! As I write, we are on deck, enjoying our pre-dinner drinks with melon & meats starter. Tomorrow, we have a quite long, 75mile journey; sadly no wind is forecast (but we all know what that means) so it looks like it will be a motoring day, all the way down to Figueira da Foz. Catherine Editor’s note: Portugal is famous for its tarts! easy everyone…. it’s the delicious pastry and custard variety, and absolutely delicious. No pictures; they disappeared before anyone of us could take a photo. ![]() ![]() ![]() Click to Download 77A1AB94-16E0-4EA8-91A7-3653233E7F78.MP4 48.5 MB The swell, coming straight off the Atlantic is quite impressive…. thankfully the breakwaters in the harbour do a very good job of attenuating this; once inside the safe confines of the harbour, all is calm. |
