Wed 31 May 2017 01:00
Position: Horta Harbour
We continued to sail through the night of Tuesday. It was dark and cold but with a good sailing wind. Horta gradually came into view as a great lump of dark rock studded with numerous pinpoints of light. We sailed along the bottom of the island before turning north for about a mile to arrive at the entrance to Horta harbour at 2:00am.
The ARC staff were waiting for us and directed us to raft outside two other boats just outside the Customs dock. Manuel was a welcome sight carrying cold beer in his backpack, the first we'd had for a couple of weeks.
After tidying up the outside of the boat we retreated to bed. Exploration of Horta will wait till the morning.
