Trizonia Monday May 7

Motored across from Ithaca into the Gulf of Patras, under the magnificent
Rion-Andriiion Bridge into the Gulf of Corinth. The breeze picked up out of
the west and soon we had 25 knots scudding down toward Trizonia.

Trizonia is a pretty island with a marina that was constructed about 12
years ago and never completed. With no one collecting fees, it is populated
by about 40 long term stays including 3 boats on the bottom, one of which
was a large two masted wooden boat lying on its side in about 5 metres. The
story goes that the owner left it under the guardianage of a local who
decided to take a vacation and missed the boat leaking. Apparently the
Greeks are after the owner to clean up the site but he's skipped the
country.

There was plenty of room for us. We tied alongside the south side of the
east pier. Most of the west pier was vacant.

There are 3 or 4 tavernas in the village all begging for business. Had a
reasonable dinner but a poor comparison to the previous night's dinner at
Nikki's in Vathi.
