Anchor in 8 metres on shelf extending toward islet. There are laid moorings
closer to shore but all reserved. By 2200 50 boats anchored with us. Pretty
vilage ashore chock a block with climbers awaiting a night hike up the
volcano. After dark, watch hikers lights snake up the hill and periodic
bursts of gas and red smoke from the volcano.
Pass along the north shore the following morning. Rocks suddenly start
timbling down the scree and bound into the sea with a tremendous splash.
