Monday July 5

Motor south to Permuda, an island north of Dugi Otok with a line of small islands 1/2 mile offshore to create a sheltered channel. Anchor and swim in the crystal clear water, then go ashore for a reci and a beer at the local harbourside grill. Anchor dragged a bit on first setting it as the bottom is thin sand over rock. Would not want to bet on it in a blow.

Motor on to Sakarun a well protected bay hooked in being the Veli Rat lighthouse on the north west corner of the large island of Dugi Otok. We had read Sakarun had the best beach on the Adriatic. It is pretty and the water beautiful. The beach is a long expanse of flat rock. Picked up a laid mooring (160KN)and decided to spend the night. Moorings looked in great shape, 500 lb weights and 100 ft spacing. About 2 dozen boats spread around the bay. Very nice but a few mosquitoes after dusk.
