Drumroll please......The time is here, the moment
is now, and so begins our bluewater passage!
Aaron and I have again
enjoyed our time in Cabo and are sad to be leaving friends and family behind :-
( I am very excited about the sailing adventure we are about to
begin as we cross the mighty Pacific in the longest ocean crossing on the
planet; but I have to admit, saying goodbye to my parents was not much fun
at all and it still makes me sad to think that I will not see them again
until New Zealand (almost 9 months)!! E-mail is a great thing though and
just in case those of you reading didn't already know......we LOVE to get
e-mails and would appreciate any words from home especially on this next leg of
our trip!....Not that Aaron and I are not going to enjoy spending the next
20-ish days together with ONLY the companionship of one another to
rely on for entertainment ;- ) Actually we are looking forward to spending the
time together as we will always remember this once-in-a-lifetime journey and we
have stocked up on lots of new books to keep us busy during those four hour
watches!
The last few days have
been filled with errand running and other last minute preparations. Thank
you again to those who helped us out in the states with sending and delivering
packages and boat items ordered from afar! I do not know what we would have done
without my little mom....she is the best! and helped so much in our planning.
Trips to Costco, CCC (a huge Mexican grocery store), Aramburo (gringo grocery
store in downtown cabo), Radio Shack, Office Max, Wal-Mart (yuck! I know...Its
HORRIBLE to shop at Wal-Mart and I usually never do, but here its almost
unavoidable!), the fabric store and organic market allowed us to fully provision
the boat with stores for the next 6 months as we wanted to be prepared and have
extras of the "special" stuff we like (e.g., peanut butter, pickles, multigrain
bread, crystal light, etc.). It will be interesting to see what items are
difficult to find in the islands that we did not expect and perhaps those which
we stocked up on may be more readily available than we thought!
I have attached some
photos which never made it on the blog from our awning sewing project in La Paz
with our friends John and Lisa, a recent grey whale sighting,
a visit to a Mexican cock fight during Carnaval, my friend Angie's
trip to La Paz!! and some shots of our trip to Loreto. Now with all
that done, I am feeling the pressure of time and must return to storing
goods and tiding up the boat so that we can be off on schedule in the
morning!
Buenos noches..... Besos,
Lauren "Lorena"
